The Old Owl's Warning
When the crow arrived at the owls' cave, most of the owls felt sorry for him.
But one old red-eyed owl shook his head. "An enemy in trouble is still an enemy," he said.
"Send him away kindly, but send him away." The others laughed at him.
"You are too suspicious," they said. "Look how gentle he is."
The old owl left the cave that very night and went to live in a hollow tree.
He was the only one who was still safe when the crows came, and he never said, "I told you so."
One careful voice is worth listening to, even when everyone disagrees.
