The Foolish Friend
A king kept a pet monkey who loved him very much. The monkey followed him everywhere.
One warm afternoon the king lay down for a nap. The monkey sat beside him waving a fan.
A fly kept landing on the king's face. The monkey shooed it away, but back it came.
The monkey grew angry. He picked up the king's heavy sword to chase the little fly.
Down came the blade, and the poor king was hurt. The fly buzzed away, quite safe.
The wise men said, "Better a clever enemy than a foolish friend."
A friend who does not think can do more harm than a person who dislikes you.
