The Jackal and the War Drum

Story 3 Friends Apart 1 min read Ages 3–10

A hungry jackal wandered into an empty battlefield. Suddenly he heard a huge sound. Boom! Boom!

His legs shook. "Some giant beast is here," he thought. "I must run away."

Then he stopped. "Wait. Let me look first," he said bravely.

He crept close and found only an old drum. The wind was blowing a branch against it.

The jackal laughed out loud. The big scary sound was nothing at all.
