The Snake Who Paid Gold
A farmer found a snake living in his field and began to leave him a bowl of milk each day.
Every morning the farmer found a gold coin beside the empty bowl.
He grew comfortable and happy, and thanked the snake kindly.
But his son said, "There must be a whole heap of gold in that hole. Let us take it all."
He struck at the snake's home, and after that the coins stopped coming for ever.
The farmer sighed. A little every day had been more than enough.
Wanting everything at once can cost you the little you already had.
