The Sandpiper and the Sea
A little sandpiper laid her eggs on the warm sand near the sea.
A big wave came and carried the eggs away. The bird was very sad, but she was not beaten.
"I will empty the whole sea," she said. She picked up one drop of water in her beak and dropped it on the sand.
Again and again she went, one tiny drop at a time. The other birds came to help her.
Even the great king of birds came and asked the sea to be kind.
The sea was ashamed, and gave the little bird her eggs back.
Never give up, even when the task looks far too big.
