The Hunter, the Deer and the Jackal
A hunter caught a deer and carried it home through the forest.
On the way he found a fallen fruit and stopped to rest under the tree.
A hungry jackal saw the deer lying there and his eyes grew wide.
"I shall save this for later," he thought, "and first nibble the hunter's bowstring."
He wanted everything at once, and in his hurry he was hurt by the springing bow.
The deer, meanwhile, woke up and ran safely back into the trees.
Wanting everything at once often means getting nothing at all.
