The Deer, the Crow and the Jackal
A deer and a crow were old friends. One day a smooth-talking jackal asked to join them.
"I know him only a little," the crow warned. "Let us take our time."
But the deer liked the jackal's sweet words and made him a friend at once.
The jackal led the deer to a field full of green corn, where a trap was waiting.
The deer was caught, and the jackal slipped away without helping at all.
It was the old friend, the crow, who came with a clever plan and set the deer free.
New friends may be sweet, but old friends are the ones who stay.
