The Cobra and the Gold Coin
In an old anthill lived a cobra who guarded a single gold coin.
A traveller passing by was kind to him and left a little food each evening.
In return the cobra let him take the coin and even showed him a safe path.
But one day the traveller came with a stick, wanting the anthill as well.
The cobra slid deep inside and did not come out again.
The traveller had traded a friend for a thing, and got neither.
Do not trade a friendship for something you can hold in your hand.
