The Greedy Jackal and the Bow
A jackal wandered through the forest and found a hunter's bow lying on the ground.
Its string was wrapped in soft leather, and the jackal was very hungry.
"What a fine snack," he said, and began to chew the leather.
He chewed and chewed until at last the tight string went twang!
The bow sprang and knocked him flat, and away he limped with an empty stomach.
One more bite, he thought sadly, was one bite too many.
Greed makes people take one bite too many.
