Comforting Mother

Story 16 Into the Forest 1 min read Ages 3–10

When Rama's mother, Queen Kaushalya, heard he must leave, tears filled her eyes.

Rama sat beside her and held her hand. "Please do not cry, Mother," he said gently.

"The forest has lovely trees and singing birds. Fourteen years will pass quickly. I will come back to you."

He wiped her tears and gave her a warm hug. His soft words made her feel a little better.

Even when Rama was leaving, he thought first about comforting his mother.
