A Promise to Keep
Long ago, King Dasharatha had promised Queen Kaikeyi two wishes. Now she asked for them.
Her wishes made the king very sad, for they meant Rama must live in the forest for fourteen years.
When Rama heard, he did not get angry. He stayed calm and gentle.
"Father made a promise," Rama said. "A promise must be kept. I will happily go to the forest."
Rama chose to keep his family's word, even though it was hard. That is what made him so good.
A promise is important. Keep your word, even when it is difficult.
