The Squirrel and the Storm
All through the warm months a squirrel carried nuts into a hollow branch.
The other animals laughed. "Come and play. The sun will shine forever."
"A little every day," said the squirrel, and carried on.
Then the great rains came, and they came for many days without stopping.
The forest floor turned to mud and there was nothing to be found anywhere.
The squirrel opened her store and shared it, and nobody laughed at her again.
A little done every day becomes a lot when you need it.
