The Elephant Who Would Not Ask
A young elephant got his foot stuck fast between two rocks by the river.
He pulled and pushed all morning, but he was far too proud to call out.
A monkey passed. "Do you need help?" "No, no," said the elephant. "I am simply resting."
A crow passed, and a deer, and a whole family of otters, and he said the same to each.
By evening he was tired, thirsty and still completely stuck.
At last he called, and everyone came at once, and in a few minutes he was free.
Asking for help is not weak. Staying stuck is.
