The Parrot Who Repeated Everything
A merchant kept a clever parrot who could repeat anything he heard.
Visitors were amazed. "He speaks just like a person!" they said.
But the parrot never understood a single word he said.
One day a thief came and told the parrot, "Say the door is open." And the parrot did.
The merchant, half asleep, believed his own parrot and left the door unlocked.
Repeating is easy, the merchant learned. Understanding is the hard and useful part.
Repeating words is not the same as understanding them.
