The Cat Who Wanted Wings
A cat watched the birds all day and wished with all her heart for wings.
She tied broad leaves to her front legs and climbed onto the garden wall.
Down she jumped, and down she fell, straight into the soft flower bed.
An old sparrow landed beside her. "You cannot fly," she said, "but you can climb, and I cannot."
The cat looked up at the tall mango tree she had scaled a hundred times.
That evening she climbed to the very top and watched the sunset, higher than any sparrow dared.
Instead of wishing for someone else's gift, use your own.
