The Dog Who Went Abroad
A dog left his village because food was short and travelled to a far country.
There he found plenty to eat and grew round and glossy.
But the dogs of that place did not know him, and they chased him from every street.
He was full, but he was never comfortable, and he missed the sound of his own name.
At last he walked all the way home to his thin, familiar village.
"There was more food there," his friends said. "Yes," said the dog, "but here there is peace."
A full stomach is not worth much without peace and people who know you.
