The Lion and the Mouse
A great lion was fast asleep in the warm sunshine. A little mouse ran right across his nose and woke him up!
The lion grabbed the mouse with his huge paw. "Please let me go," squeaked the mouse, "and one day I will help you!"
The lion laughed. How could a tiny mouse ever help him? But he felt kind, so he let the little mouse go free.
A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter's net. He roared and roared but could not get free.
The little mouse heard him. She ran over and nibbled the ropes with her sharp teeth until the lion was free!
The lion smiled. "You were right, little friend. Even a tiny mouse can help a mighty lion." They were friends forever.
Even the smallest friend can be the greatest help.
